Report: May 2, 2015 – Dr. Sunil Sharma and Team Rubicon visit to towns of Syamsatu and Nakuche: 4 hour hike from our base camp near Bahrabise We were the first group to this area. We established a small mobile health clinic that saw a total of 35 patients. Two were earthquake related: 1) an adolescent with chest contusion – probably rib fracture, 2) an adult with assumed distal fibula fracture, splinted with plaster. The severely traumatized patients were transported by the Army to larger tertiary facilities. Many of the homes were destroyed, with people living with a mixture of tarps, retained awnings or fabricated lean-tos. We also established a small clinic at the base camp with patients mostly from Gathi VDC that had minor cuts and bruises – about 10 patients out of a total of 70. Also visited the the Primary Health Center at Bahrabise that was partially destroyed – patients were being seen in the courtyard by three physicians.
