Blankets for Earthquake Victims

Project:	There is an urgent need of blankets for cold victims of the earthquake in Gorkha, Nepal. Government and other organizations are focusing on areas accessible via motor roads. ANMF will support villages that are at higher altitude not accessible via motor roads. Based on ANMF/Nepal recommendation and other logistics constraints, we will focus ONE village at a time. One blanket will cost around $23.00 including transportation. First approval will be for $23,140 for Uiya, Gorkha. Each household will get two blankets.

21 Jan 16	Report from ANMF/Nepal. 1016 blankets, woolen caps, woolen socks and molasses delivered to Kashigaun.
16 Jan 16	News from Gorkha that ANMF team is winding down distributing the blankets and molasses to 509 households from Kashigaun. People were really happy as they never received such good quality blankets. Total 1600 blankets were distributed. Tomorrow they will walk to Uhiya village (will take about 5 hours) and distribute rest of the 1800 blankets. Initially they had gone with 3 truckloads, but as the load was too much they had to rent 2 other smaller vehicles to take the goods up there. Logistics management was difficult but this help from ANMF will definitely save many people from cold. This delayed their journey and they reached very late last night. Kudos to ANMF team members Kashika, Sashwat, Kamal and Sitasma (from Jayanti Trust), Col. Pant (Nepal Army), drivers and porters. Pictures and report to follow later.

13 Jan 16	ANMF/Nepal sent in a revised proposal for $23,140 for Uiya, $21,921 for Kashigaun (due to revised population figure), and $36,651 for a third village Keraunja, plus a budget of $6,930 for socks, caps and molasses (two household) for Uiya and Kashigaun, for a total of $51,991.
