| Project: | Devghat Center for Healing Arts is a rural charity clinic in Devghat, Chitwan, Nepal which is managed by Guna Nidhi Memorial Trust. This outpatient clinic serves mostly elderly helpless underserved populations and orphans. Because of the philanthropic donors this clinic is self-sustained and in the verge of growth since its inception. Clinic has received manpower support from Bharatpur Government Hospital with long-term commitment.
Introducing electronic health record (HER) can potentially improve the quality of care through better disease screening, early intervention and prevention. It may minimize the barrier in health care utilization at Bharatpur Hospital through more effective population management and telemedicine. Goals:
Devghat, Chitwan lacks basic primary care including health screening, routine follow up, hospital discharge follow-ups etc. Most of the residents are 50 yr. and above which do not have access to safe and reliable transport service to the Bharatpur Hospital and has low utilization rate of the government services at Bharatpur Hospital. Lacks basic health screening including coordination of care. Based on these challenges it is an ideal place to implement electronic health records. Because of the close relationship with Bharatpur Hospital, its implementation will further enhance its relationship with the hospital and can broaden the service offered through the facility. It has received generous support from the Nepalese living in the United States and well received from the local residents. Hence this project has been evolving as a self-sustained charity health care ideal project. |
