| Project: | With the slogan of "I am a child, not a bride", we will promote awareness regarding child marriage at local level along with the collaboration of child clubs. Such awareness campaign will be conducted on the leadership of adolescent girls associated with respective clubs. The duration of this campaign will be one year and schools, local wards and other stakeholders will be coordinated accordingly.
Child marriage is the major cause for many other problems. Though many programs and campaigns by governmental and non-governmental organizations are being carried out in province no. 2 in order to minimize the cases of child marriage and gender based violence, but remarkable achievement could not be achieved. Thus state government has started a campaign with a slogan, "Educate daughter, save daughter" with the objective to reduce the cases of child marriage and gender based violence to a low level. Data shows that 37% of girls in Nepal marry before the age of 18, and 10% are still married by the age of 15. This is the third highest rate of child marriage in South Asia after Bangladesh and India. Terai and Madhesh of Province-02 have a particularly high rate of child marriage as compare to other provinces. In this scenario, there is a doubt on government target to eradicate Child Marriage by 2030. Before the age of 20 years, girls are not ready to become wives and mothers neither physically nor emotionally. Child Marriage ultimately deprived them from Fundamental Rights such as health education & safety and exposes to various gender based violence and related problems. In this case, IRHDTC, Nepal has made a plan to support this campaign of state government by making collaboration with child clubs of local schools. Child marriage and its devastating problems could not be minimized until & unless adolescent girls are made aware and enhance their leadership skills. |

| Organization: | The mission of Integrated Rural Health Development and Training Center Nepal (IRHDTC) is to build individual and institutional capacity to create effective health and population development policies and programs. We pursue to develop cadres of highly skilled and motivated health professionals, service providers, academicians and leaders.
IRHDTC is a service oriented organization established in 1996. After working for almost 15 years in the health sector development, in 2011, IRHDTC registered as a non-governmental organization at the Social Welfare Council Nepal. We specifically work to provide technical assistance to strengthen health systems. IRHDTC areas of expertise are designing health programs, conducting research, carrying out evidence based advocacy, designing and developing training packages and also conducting technical trainings focusing on maternal and child health, family planning, HIV/AIDS, behavior change communication and adult learning model. Further, IRHDTC also focuses on policy analysis, strategic planning, and program management and evaluation. For the last 25 years, we have designed and implemented innovative health projects that are easy to scale-up and that focus on improving service delivery mechanism and behavior change in low-income settings. Even though we have worked and supported several health sector initiatives, our primary strength is designing and delivering training programs and packages. We specialize in capacity building and skills enhancement of human resources including doctors, nurses, health assistants, community health workers, who directly or indirectly contribute to the health of Nepali citizens. IRHDTC has proven its excellence in developing human resources for health sector through specially catered trainings primarily in the areas of child and maternal health, nutrition, epidemiology of common diseases, hygiene, sanitation and environmental health, HIV/AIDS, family planning and reproductive health, behavior change communication, monitoring and evaluation and logistics management. Our trainings focus on equipping individuals both the health workers, volunteers and citizens with understanding, skills, and knowledge-base that enable them to perform to the highest standards. Further, our expertise specifically lies on conducting surveys, after training follow up studies, health system research (public-private partnership, program evaluation) and operational studies including rapid assessment surveys and ethnographic/qualitative studies. Based on the research outcomes, we have designed and implemented programs specifically targeting the gaps. Further our research study findings have enabled us to conduct evidence-based advocacy with the government. |
