May 3, 2015 – All of us were on the ground in the first week post earthquake. Several team members had already assessed the needs after talking to the liaison at the health ministry and after having made preliminary visit to Sindhupalchowk. In partnership with Team Rubicon, we headed to Kiul and Baruwa VDCs of Sindhupalchowk, the worst hit district. We were the only doctors in this team of 20 volunteers.
We headed out on the 3rd (of May) We camped at Melamchi. Here, we had a meeting with the army major who assigned us to go to Sermanthan and surrounding villages; in the upper reaches of Sindhupalchowk where no medical relief team had reached yet. We left rice and beans at Melamchi. Once we were in the Helambu region, we divided into subgroups to cover different villages. |
