Dr. Arun Kunwar from ANMF coordinated with Psychiatrists Association of Nepal to help in mental health recovery and rehabilitation. Dr. Arun Kunwar in coordination with PAN has initiated the mental health awareness and rehabilitation campaign at Gorkha district. Furthermore Dr. Arun has already started the mental health awareness campaign through Radio Annapurna Pvt. Ltd focusing on the large population through mass media. |

| 26 Oct 15 | Report received. Under the leadership of Dr. Arun Kunwar, ANMF coordinated with Psychiatrists Association of Nepal (PAN) to help in mental health recovery and rehabilitation. PAN has initiated the mental health awareness and rehabilitation campaign at Gorkha district and conducted psychological counseling and awareness programs at different schools providing trainings to the teachers. Furthermore Dr. Arun implemented the mental health awareness campaign through Radio Annapurna Pvt. Ltd focusing on the large population through mass media. Recently Dr. Arun and his team visited Lamjung, Gorkha and Kaski for enhancing mental health counseling and awareness at various earthquake affected districts. |
| 31 Oct 15 | With the funds provided by ANMF after the Earthquake following programs have been undertaken in Nepal under the leadership of Dr. Arun Raj Kunwar.
1. Mental Health Hotline and free consultation: Immediately following the earthquake, the 24 hour hotline provided direct access to mental health providers including psychiatrist. Hotline was advertised through national FM along with public service message. Free mental health clinic consisting of a psychiatrist and a psychologist was established and provided services to trauma affected individuals, 3 hours 6 days a week for 3 months. 2. Bir Hospital Trauma Unit: To orthopedic residents and faculty training on Psychological Consequences and Management after EQ. Identifying patients with psychological distress and PTSD. We provided a psychologist everyday for the trauma center to provide acute counseling. 3. Community Outreach: Preventive and first aid psychological training for teachers in VDCs in Kathmandu, Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk. 4. Banepa Neuro Rehab: Training provided to their staff on Post disaster mental health early recovery and future problem anticipation. 5. CWIN (Child Workers In Nepal): We undertook staff training at CWIN and in concert with CWIN, 2 day training was undertaken for 20+ participants from 5 VDCs in Sindhupalchowk for teachers. Also trained master trainers who trained further 14 school teachers. 6. Radio Programe: Weekly program (for 6 months still ongoing) in National FM where patients could call in and talk to a psychiatrist live. 7. Multiple free mental health camps in KTM and surrounding districts (10+). 8. We trained providers on basic psychological support for children through seminars, guidelines and presentations. 9. Pokhara Psychiatrist Team: conducted 6 Mental Health camps in Gorkha. 10. We are in process of establishing Telepsychiatry consultation service to Gorkha district |
