Project: The proposed grant will supplement the PAHS effort to enrich the educational experience of the rheumatology fellows. The fund will be used to buy educational materials for the fellows. This includes text and reference books and subscription to the rheumatology journals. The grant money will be used to buy a musculoskeletal ultrasound machine or probe. It will be used to upgrade our existing virtual class room (VCR)/telemedicine system.

Organization: Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) is an autonomous, not-for-profit, public institution for higher education in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was established in 2008, with the goal of producing well trained medical professionals who could provide needed medical services in the rural part of the country and to address needs of Nepal's rural poor, and to reduce the existing gap in the health status between the urban and rural populations in Nepal. Patan Hospital, the main teaching hospital of PAHS, has been involved in post graduate training program in collaboration with Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine and National Academy of Medical Sciences since 1994. With the establishment of its own medical school, PAHS has taken the initiative to start different post graduate/fellowship training programs to improve the health care need of the country. The proposed rheumatology training program is one of such attempts.

17 Jan 21  The medical equipment has reached the store of Patan Hospital and now after the final technical evaluation is done it will be handed over to Patan Hospital.
12 Dec 20  The tender process has finished for the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and we have selected Sun Medical for being the lowest and most eligible bidder. Sun Medical has promised that they will deliver the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound to PAHS in a month. After the Ultrasound will be delivered to PAHS we will hand it over to PAHS. Text books and reference materials for the Rheumatology fellowship has already been handed over. We had provided books as per the list provided by PAHS.
19 Nov 20  Update received from ANMF/Nepal.
10 Jul 20  MOU with PAHS has been signed by Dr.Paras (Registrar-PAHS) and Dr.Bhupendra. MOU has been sent to ANMF-US. PAHS has sent the specification and according to it ANMF-Nepal will procure and hand over the Muskcoskeletal Machine and Rheumatology reference materials to PAHS.

6 May 20  Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed.
16 Mar 20  Status report from ANMF/Nepal: “MOU with PAHS has been signed by Paras sir (Registrar-PAHS) but as he has been sick for few days MOU will be sent by him after he comes back to the office. Then Bhupendra sir (ANMF-Nepal president) will sign it and we will send it to ANMF-US for further process.”
30 Dec 19  Social Welfare Council (SWC) approval (1, 2) received from Patan Academy of Health Sciences.
16 Aug 19  ANMF/Nepal reports: This project is under Social Welfare Council project approval process.
16 May 19  Fund assurance notice sent to America Nepal Medical Foundation/Nepal.
5 May 19  $18,600 grant approved by ANMF/America Board.
14 Apr 19  Projects Committee unanimously recommended the Board approve $18,600 for this proposed project.

24 Feb 19  ANMF/America Board tabled debate on the proposal due to insufficient information and budget details. Prakash is in Kathmandu and will meet with the people at Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS).
