NCCDF Simulation Center is the first of its kind in Nepal providing medical education and offering in-situation scenario training that develop and advance medical care in the country to the healthcare professionals at very low cost. NCCDF Simulation Center has trained around 824 nurses this year 2018. In future we are trying to cover all the regions of the country where simulation based learning are not in practice. For the smooth functioning and operation of the Simulation Center we are seeking support from ANMF as the rental cost is very high and we are not able to sustain with the minimum fee we collect from the participants which is only sufficient for their food and study materials.
NCCDF Sim med centre was established with a grant of USD 21,350 from ANMF-US and started from 2075/05/01 (2018/08/17). NCCDF Simulation Center has seven rooms including a main hall where 35 trainees can be accommodated. Through a year 2018 we have trained 824 health care proesionals from the center. In future we are trying to cover all the regions of the country where simulation based learning are not in practice in which many of the health care proffesionals from different regions of the country will be trained that help for the better care of ill patients.
Background: Simulation is being increasingly used as an effective teaching tool when training health care professional which bridges the gap between classroom learning and real life clinical experiences. It is also useful for practicing a team response to low frequency, high risk clinical events that improves performance of technical and non technical skills. Simulation based learning can be the way to develop health care professionals knowledge, skills and attitudes whilst protecting patients from unnecessary risks. Simulation based medical education can be a platform which provides a valuable tool in learning to mitigate ethical tension and resolve practical dilemmas.
NCCDF simulation center is able to conduct training sessions that can cover general clinical scenarios or specific scenario targeted to address recent critical incident or problems unique to the hospital. The goals are: To develop non-technical skills or human factors such as situational awareness, decision making, task management, team working, communication skills and calmness under pressure. To train health care professional of all the regions of the country through the simulation center in the minimum fee which helps in the patient care in all regions of Nepal.
NCCDF mission is to improve the availability of Critical Care services in Nepal and facilitate education and training which assist to improve the care for critically ill patients.
NCCDF is Not for Profit, tax exempt social organization established at 2012 with an objective of developing Critical Care Medicine in Nepal and helping upgrade ICU services in the country.
NCCDF has been active in numerous events and activities. The foundation conducts various workshops and has been running ‘BASIC for NURSES', ‘Infection Prevention and Control', ‘CPR for Nurses', ‘Tracheostomy Care', ‘Ventilator Associated Pneumonia' workshop for nurses through the Simulation Center and supports the care of poor patients with ICU care box. In addition, NCCDF organizes a number of awareness activities like Sepsis Rally and Hand Hygiene Campaign.
